Boasting 242.25 acres, the Piedra Springs Ranch is a fishing and hunting paradise. Not only encompassing a mile of the Piedra River, it also provides direct access to over 2 million acres of the San Juan National Forest for snowmobiling, hiking, camping and horseback riding. The national forest is accessible from the property on foot, horseback, or by motor vehicle. 242 acres feels like 2 million! Located 35 miles from Durango and 20 miles from Pagosa Springs. A jump away from two major airports, Durango-La Plata County Airport and Archuleta County Airport.

Two pieces of the property hug both sides of a major highway (Highway 160), which connects Pagosa Springs with Durango-Bayfield.

The large, comfortable two-story ranch house on the property features has 5 spacious rooms, 3 baths, and a large sauna room. There are also 3 large fireplaces, perfect for keeping the house warm during the winter, while also providing electrical heating and cooling if required.

One mile frontage of the Piedra River.

Private Lake (10 acres) with a depth of up to 40 feet.

Large, running water pond adjacent to a small park, perfect for kids to play.

Hundreds of trees hug the Piedra River on both sides. Fir, pine, spruce, cottonwood and many others native to the colorado landscape.

In addition to the river frontage on the property, Yellow Jacket Creek runs thru the property for 1/2 of a mile

Bridge crosses Piedra River (Highway 160) on the property. The main highway frontage runs for about 1/4 of a mile.

Shot of the river from the bridge

A portion of the property is a 50 acre field. The field is irrigated, with 26 Cubic ft/se water rights. One right goes back all the way to year 1870!

Everything is privately fenced. Hay fields produced up to 8,000 bales of alfalfa, oats, and grass with 2 cuttings a year. Also on the property is a gravel pit (the permit to operate still exists on the premises) which will now contract more than $100,000 of income a year. Although both of these operations were ceased voluntarily by the owner for personal reasons, we still harvest about 2,000 bales a year of alfalfa for our own horses.

Autumn changes the trees to shades of beautiful colors

In the spring, the river runs high and strong

Winter - the most beautiful season

Winter creeping in on the valley. Snow has started accumulating, and hunting season starts

Whether you want to hunt or just observe the wild life, the Piedra Springs Ranch will provide you with ample opportunity. The hunting season is long, and thousands of elk, deer, and turkey roam throughout the property and the San Juan National Forest beyond.

Your own 10 acre fishing lake, only 100 yards from the main house

This aerial shot shows the 8 acre lake, and the "X" on the picture marks a 3/8 training track that is included on the property

Chimney Rock (Indian Holy Burial Ground) is visible in the high mountains, especially at sunset. You've probably seen this historical landmark in many movies, since it was used as a landmark for travelers on the Oregon Trail. As it happens, the Oregon Trail still exists on the property, as well as the remains of a wagon station that existed to supply and service the historical travelers on their long journey across America.
As an interesting side note, two U.S. patents have been granted with regards to the Piedra Springs Ranch by Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt when they were presidents of the United States of America!
